I almost bought a Ricky once, but found it to be a bit of a one trick pony, mind you it's a very nice trick, fat and true as it is! But my heart's been completely rent by a G & L Legacy - think Fender after Fender, the perfection of the strat design by the master himself - and lo! there was a waxing of good tone and the ears were filled with it...

If it's diversity and pristine tone you're after Mike, trot downtown and grope yourself a George and Leo. I promise you'll not be disappointed. And they are very cheap used compared to a Fender, being relatively unknown by non-players. As for the wife and former sweetheart...best of luck on that front eh!

ps apologies to any Rickenbacker people - I certainly deserve a flaming for such flippant treatment of a brilliant design - sorry!

best wishes from true north,

On the last tour, Jim pulled out a Rickenbacker guitar for a few songs (at least he did during the Seattle show)
and recently I have been listening to some other musicians that I know use Rickenbackers.

I must admit, I love the sound that comes out of those guitars - but does anyone know what year/model Jim used on the last tour?

I am fiddling with my acoustic guitar, but in the back of my mind, I know the day will come when I have enough money and my wife says to me - "You can go electric without driving me insane".

When that day comes - I want to be ready and know EXACTLY what guitar I want. It might be a rickenbacker - but then I listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughn and would DIE for a strat. Maybe I have to get so good my wife would let me get one of each!

Well -Here is to hoping!
