The Dead Heart is the area to the north of Lake Eyre, now known as the 
Simpson Desert.

Areas- central inland Australia)
Alice Springs,Arltunga,Barrow Creek, Glen Helen, Hermannsburg,
Ross River,Ti Tree, Wauchope, Erldunda, Kings Canyon, Uluru

Cecil Madigan wrote a book of his crossing of the northern part of the 
Simpson Desert from Andado Station to Birdsville and then south to Lake Eyre
