Workers,
I was lucky enough to attend both Melbourne shows and get backstage for =
the second show.=20
They seemed to be enjoying themselves more than at any time I have seen =
them. I don't have a set list but I do remember them playing a killer =
double: if ned kelly were king followed by don't wanna be the one.They =
seem to be hamming it up a bit more, jamming a bit more, just making it =
up as they go along.
In any case.. back stage I had the honour of being offered a beer by Jim =
and chatting to him and the gang. Didn't get to chat to Bones, and Pete =
wasn't really interested in chatting. The sydney fires were threatening =
his house apparently so I can forgive him.:)
I got a vibe more than any hard facts that the reason they cancelled =
Europe was that they were completely stuffed from a year of touring. I =
asked everyone whether they had had a good year touring, and they all =
agreed they had, except that it had been too long. They did all look =
rather tired and ready for Christmas with their families and a little =
bit of surfing or something.
Martin mentioned he loves the US, even though he didn't when he first =
went 20 years ago, but now he says he loves the place, mainly for the =
diversity of people he said.
I don't know if I should mention it, but Jim's little techno samples on =
the site, "Me and the Other Guy", are actually him and his son, playing =
around together,which I thought was absolutely cool. What a Dad! I must =
say he is so friendly and geniunely interested in people, even if he is =
not as baby-faced as he used to be. :-)
In any case, tonight shall proved rather boring after last night! :-)
