Midnight Oil

[Powderworks] Bullroarer

I seem to remember an interview where Rob Hirst makes it abundantly clear
that the whirring sound that starts that song is NOT a real bullroarer but
a schoolboy copy of one ... a ruler at the end of a piece of rope.

A true bullroarer is apparently a very sacred instrument ... and the Oils
respected that.
