NEW ALBUM AUGUST 12
=20
ARIA nominees and leaders in 'heart-stopping', 'trance-inducing' acoustic
music, BACKSLIDERS - (Dom Turner, Jim Conway & Rob Hirst) will release thei=
r
8th album, Hanoi, on August 12, 2002 through Shock Records. The album is b=
y
far their finest to date, both lyrically & musically and pushes the
boundaries of original acoustic-electric music to new limits.
=20
The songs for Hanoi are mainly co-writes by founding Backslider, Dom Turner
and newest band-member, Rob Hirst. Harmonica virtuoso, Jim Conway paired
with Tim Gaze to pen the tremolo - soaked 'Son of the Father'.
=20
Hanoi is certain to go down as Backslider's most eclectic and ground
breaking album yet. The band's unique blend of Southern US sounds with
Australian & Asian themes, combined with consistently innovative production=
,
again pushes the music to an ever widening audience.
=20
Along with the title track, 'Hanoi', the album contains; 'Wretch like me',
'The Church of Never Find Out', 'Thinkin' Man's Drinkin' Man', 'Black Top
Road' (featuring a narration by Virginia bluesman, John Jackson), 'Son of
the Father', "Clinging to my Culture, 'Train Wreck', "Black Wind', 'I Call
Your Name', "You Got To Move', "Rest of Night'.
=20
"The band is about discovery and doing something different within the genre
we love. Renewed enthusiasm has spawned a sound more 'us' than ever
before." DOM TURNER
=20
"On this album, we set out to develop and incorporate new influences but at
the same time remain true to our blues roots." JIM CONWAY
=20
"This is a blues record with punch - melodies that stick in your head and
the fat trimmed off." ROB HIRST
=20
"It's (Hanoi) a hi-fi experience in the true sense - not just sonically but
naturally" DON BARTLEY - Studio 301
