Hi Mathieu!

Yes, I thought something must be wrong when you have to pay VAT in both countries. This is how I wrote anyway:

Dear 24hundred,

I received my order #xxxxxxxx yesterday (Midnight Oil – Overflow Tank Ltd ed. pre-order shipped to Sweden). However, I had to pay 25% Swedish GST on the goods. I have looked into this and it seems you wrongly did not deduct the Australian GST when charging me for the goods. This text is from the Australian Tax Office: “Exports of goods and services from Australia are generally GST-free. If you're registered for GST, this means: you don't include GST in the price of your exports, you can still claim credits for the GST included in the price of purchases you use to make your exported goods and services.”

The customs declaration also appears wrongly filled in by you. Here the value is filled in as $255, when it should actually be $232 (excluding the GST), I therefore had to pay Swedish GST on the Australian GST, meaning $6 extra for me ((255-232)*0,25). I expect a refund from you of the Australian GST + the extra Swedish GST I had to pay because the customs declaration was not filled in correctly by you, a total of $29.

I have been ordering products from different Australian online stores since the 90’s and they have always deducted the Australian GST.

Attached are pictures of your customs declaration, the amount of Swedish GST I had to pay (508 SEK) and the parcel with added sticker by Swedish customs saying it is liable to Swedish GST.

Best regards

Hi!

I also ended up paying 25% Swedish GST (or VAT as it is also called) for the tank when it arrived here. But 24Hundred had not deducted the 10% Australian GST when I paid them, so I ended up paying both Australian and Swedish GST (35%!). I contacted 24Hundred and got my money back (the 10% Australian GST + the Swedish GST on the Australian GST, because they filled in the value of the product including GST instead of excluding GST in the customs declaration). I also had the problem Mike is having, that the tank suddenly disappeared only a few kilometers from home. A week later after some investigation it turned out my local post office had scanned the wrong code, so they kept claiming the parcel was not there, when it was there all the time. Apparently there are two different codes on international shipments and the post office had scanned the wrong one. But it all ended well :)

Well, judging by the outside tracking bar code info that I can decipher, it left LA at 18:30 6/2/17, arrived Seattle 6:34 (must be 6/3/17). According to the documents INSIDE (the customs paperwork), it was sent 5/30. Not sure that helps...the online tracking information was pretty useless. When I looked on Friday, the last update was that it was still in Melbourne. Then suddenly it was here. And I got an email notice that it had been delivered. I feel so bad for you... :-(

Thanks for the info Erika.  Glad you got yours.  Hopefully mine will show up this week.  The local post office seems to thing that it's normal that this is taking
so long because it is an international package, but when you can see the tracking and it just stops there has to be something wrong.  If it doesn't show up this
week I will go to Paypal and file a claim for my money back.

By the way, you say that yours was in Melbourne just yesterday?  Did they just get around to sending it and it made it in one day, or did it get sent to the US,
back to Melbourne, and then back to you (or can you tell by your tracking?).  I kind of wonder if mine got sent back to Melbourne for some reason.

Thanks again,

Mike

I live in Seattle - I'm "Rika Tuhdeen" on facebook. I ordered from the site when I was in Spain. I was desperate for tickets to the Seattle show. And I figured (rightly so) that good seats would be $300+, might as well get all the vinyl and all the goodies for about $150 more. When I checked in Vancouver BC yesterday, it was still in Melbourne. I feel supremely lucky to have it arrive. 3 days after my new record player arrived. I have been following your drama, it sound horrible. Because I had already used the tickets, I would have done a chargeback if I had to....I am so sorry for you!!! :-(

Man I wish mine would show up.  It's been "in transit" 20 miles from my house for a week now.

If I may ask Erika - where about do you live and did you order from 24Hundred?

Thanks,

Mike Bawolski
