Midnight Oil

GREAT vocal and guitars on "Rocking in the free world".  Jim just gets across the chorus so effortlessly.  Thanks for sharing! (the other tracks too)

I couldn't resist the opportunity to see Jim play today – at the venue he has dubbed "the best in the world". It was at the Bombie Bar, which is literally an outdoor covered stage in the Coalcliff Surf Life Saving club (which is about 60 km south of Sydney just past the spectacular Royal National Park). And indeed it was a great venue – great music, great view of the beach. So we packed the kids into the car and off we went.

Jim and the Family Dog played a cracker set with songs from Fuzzface, Alas Folkloric, a few unreleased originals, a few Oils songs (Shakers & Movers [done solo]; Say Your Prayers; Redneck; Short memory), and a few choice covers (Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction"; Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World"). And a fun, passionate and enthusiastic crowd. And the band seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely.

Couldn't imagine a better way to spend a sunny summer's Sunday afternoon in Sydney.

A few pics are attached – i was going to include a video of "Short Memory" but a better one, and a few others, can be found here on the Bombie Bar FB page

Keep an eye out for gigs at this venue – Jim has played there before so i doubt this will be his last appearance.
Cheers
