Thoroughly enjoying Big Blue Sky, for its delighted and delight-full portrayal of Australia (especially Sydney and Canberra).

Although PG is a bit too kind on former Qld Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen.  Joh is described as one who "benefitted from insider knowledge in share dealings, who had actively fostered corruption in the police force, planned to mine the Great Barrier Reef", and then sent a delegation to the United Nations meeting in Paris to oppose the federal government's push to get World Heritage Listing for the Reef (p 100).

Since the book was printed, proof has come out that Joh was actually corrupt.  He promised cabinet approval for a development in return for $20 million getting placed in a bank account by Korean developers.
