After hearing what Jimmy Page has done with the latest Zep remasters - incredible improvement, even compared to the mid 90s remasters - I was really excited to discover that the Oils were doing the same. Presumably using the latest and greatest methods and equipment one would think, or why bother? Now I've read over this long discussion and it seems we ended up with a mixed bag.Doesn't remastering involve going back to the original analogue recordings and literally re-mastering from that source? How do we know the Oils have done this and not just tweaked the old CD masters? It's a shame someone from the band hasn't taken ownership (a la Pagey) and delivered something really special. The songs certainly deserve it.
