This was his reply.

"This is not an official release. Just did a trade with someone who had these. I had to trade something good for them (Don't Ask). Some of the tracks that were shown to me were Journey, Dreaming, Heroes. (not sure if these titles are true? There's about 2 hours of recording sessions from each album"

"Sorry. It was a post on an Oils Facebook site but it wasn't the
official. Apparently the guy who runs it got his hands on them.
There's quite a few songs on there that didn't make the albums.
Now we need him to share....!"

O.K., then.... details, details, details... ?
What can we actually see / read?
At least give us a screen grab...

Hopefully they'll include any demos that didn't wind up as songs on the albums! I also hope they'll get a CD release for luddites like me...

I have a few bootleg demos and alternate/early takes of various songs. They're not exactly top quality recordings but they're interesting all the same - often with different arrangements and lyrics.

Here's a link to the torrent containing the demo files I mentioned above. Enjoy!

Midnight Oil

Demos - 1978-1985

Demo recordings from the Oils first album, Head Injuries,
Place Without A Postcard, Red Sails In The Sunset, and
Species Deceases

An interesting collection where you can hear early versions
of many songs, and many bits which later turned up in
other songs.

Midnight Oil have never released any sort of "box set",
"rarities"; or "special edition" CDs, so none of these tracks
exist on any official releases.

- Head Over Heels
- Powderworks
- Run By Night

Head Injuries Demos (1979)
- Don't Wanna Be The One
- Cold Cold Change
- Back On The Borderline
- No Reaction
- Naked Flame
- Bus To Coogee
- Koala Sprint

Place Without A Postcard (1981)
- Lucky Country
- Unknown Title
- Burnie
- Bakerman
- Khartoum
- Unknown Title
- Basement Flat
- Quinella Holiday
- Written In The Heart
- Brave Faces
- If Ned Kelly Was King
- Armistice Day

Red Sails In The Sunset (1984)
- Kosciusko
- Minutes To Midnight
- Sleep
- Shipyards Of New Zealand
- Who Can Stand In The Way
- I Want To Live Here
- Parking Station Blues
- Best Of Both Worlds
- Minutes To Midnight
- Bells And Horns In The Back Of Beyond
- Nothing Is Easy

Species Deceases (1985)
- Sad Dark Eyes (a cover of someone else's song, but I
can't remember who)

That song Sad Dark Eyes was originally by the Loved Ones & INXS did a cover of their song The Loved One.
