A couple of weeks ago, I found myself visiting the city of Dresden. This was a stopover my son had insisted that we make between Berlin and Prague, but I was uneasy about it from the start.

The rebuilding of the city has accelerated in recent years, with the restoration of the devastated city center. Many buildings have been reconstructed from their ruins, including the centerpiece Frauenkirch. But, as my son and I marveled at the recompleted city, I could only think of an elderly family friend who lived there in its glory years and survived the needless firebombing and horror an destruction. What would she think of the pictures of "her" zombie city (yes, she has seen them)? While I appreciated the beauty, I felt a sense of dread and horror and sadness underneath it all.

I slept uneasily that night, but awoke with a song on my mind: Forgotten Years. My son still sleeping in our room, I popped in the headphones and gave it a listen on my iPod. It was a sweet message from my subconscious Oils library, and it fit so well.

Now I have to wonder what the Oils themselves have said of this song - clearly European war and Aussie isolation are themes in the video. Any ideas?
