oh yes, and I'm kicking myself for not mentioning Bones- but thanks for the virus warning.

Yes, absolutely, I want this to continue. That's my vote, at least.
The Oils aren't together as a band anymore, The box set we're all drooling over may be the last of the wine, but all bands eventually move on at some point. And there's still an ongoing legacy: The Break, Pete's career, The other musical projects that Rob, Martin and Jim are doing, and the issues continue that caused the Oils to make their music. (and the songs continue to resonate). Who knows- some under-appreciated song of theirs might be included in a hit movie, reigniting interest, and their canon might somehow get the recognition it deserves later than expected-like Van Gogh getting his posthumous stardom (but perish the thought of any of them dying any time soon). And this is pure speculation on my part, but I do think they will play together at least once more.
I've had some great conversations here, some of you were very generous and kind to me sending me mp3s and other stuff, and I've given what I could to a couple of you.
It's the 21st Century, almost (gasp!) 2012-pretty wild to think about the way the big wheel has turned since "Capricornia" and when they decided to move on. But if there is a time to shut things down, this isn't it, methinks. I don't think it's wound down yet.

Hello fellow Powderworkers,

as most of you will have noted, the Powderworks mailing-list has been
closed for the past couple of weeks. I have asked the former list owner
Cheryl to pass the list on to me so everybody can decide whether the
list should continue to exist. Currently there are 640 members on the
list. Regrettably, due to the temporal closing of the list, all past
messages, files, photos and links have been lost so I'd like to ask you
to contribute and help to rebuild these contents. For now the big
question is if this list should stay on at all considering that Midnight
OIl is no longer. I will start a poll on this soon. I am new to managing
a mailing list so please bear with me if things don't run so smooth in
the beginning. Finally, I want to thank Cheryl for hosting this list for
the past couple of years and for giving me the opportunity to take over.

Regards,

Stephan
