Oilsrule, If you do clean it up for the papers, consider adding some of the background information - who documented the whale sightings, explain how exactly does this plant endanger the whales and other natural features and animals, etc. I'm not familiar with Australia's permitting processes, but I do know that in the US the EPA can only consider certain types of evidence and documentation when considering a permit and anything beyond that might trigger a lawsuit - you might do well to check that out as well.

You know the basics: the who the when the how the where the why ...

Go get 'em, and good luck!

You have some fair points, though. I'm not going to go through nitpicking today, because I have an exam to study for ;o)

The Victorian desalination project is a mess

Pete tells the Japanese that they need to protect whales, but approved a polluting desalination plant in Victoria, the second largest in the world, in the world in the middle of a whale migratory pathway on the basis of one shoddy study.

Pete has got rolled by the VictorianState Government based on a 1 week study 15 years ago that said there was only one or two whales sighted in the area (compared to the 42 documented sightings last year) you approved a noisy and krill destroying monstrous desalination plant on the Victoria coastline. This Plant is being build next to Phillip Island

Pete bangs on about to fight climate change but you issue approvals for humungous desalination plants that you know accelerate climate change, where other options are dismissed because they don't support big business and the power industry.

Pete you say you support democracy but you NEVER talked to people concerned about the second largest desalination plant in the world in Victoria after repeated requests for you to do so. Is it that you support freedom of SPEECH for the masses but you just refuse to LISTEN to them? Not once did he ever came down to this area 42 documented sightings of whales, Desalination along this coast is a joke
