much as it sucks, Rudd had to act politically. It won't end here - Rudd
and the ALP are trying to do the right thing by Garrett but the
opposition won't be happy until he's on the backbenches.


not really. he could choose to be a true leader, expose the opposition for what they are (a bunch of nay-sayers without any policy other than "the opposite of whatever they said") and tell everyone to take a hike. sadly the public rather than see this a leadership will see him as "ignoring the public interest" and will vote him out. ever wonder why CEOs who fail often go on to bigger and better things? because they failed. they know how to fail and what not to do next time. if anyone really wanted to fix this they would have kept PG onboard. however doing and fixing do not seem to be objectives in Australian politics.
