Danny Carey is a good nominee at #3 for me, add Wil Calhoun (Living Colour) in there just below Rob being at #1 and there is my top 3. Peter Ardon just misses out on making this list.

These best musicians ever contests are so lame. The question actually
answered usually is not who's the greatest at his instrument but rather
"which reasonably good guitarist/bassist/drummer played in the most
popular band?". With increasing popularity of the band the technical
abilities and tasteful style of the musician becomes less important.
There's no other explanation for why jerks like Kirk Hammett so
frequently pop up in top ten guitarists lists like in Triple M's and
Slash (who is pretty cool, actually) gets voted before Jimi Hendrix.

Rob is a really good and underrated rock drummer so he might actually
belong in the Australian top ten drummers list, but since that seems to
be an international vote... Sorry mate ;). I guess at present my vote
would go to Danny Carey (Tool).

Cheers,

Stephan
