I'm just forwarding this reply from Miron to the group (at his request):

it will. i know  everyone is chomping at the bits but i - for one - have a day job (which often lasts well into the night), a family, a dog (no ... I am not Jim Moginie) and i am sure others do too.

- we now have a number of methods to fix the dvd using nero and dvd shrink. they do not fix the chapters or (fully) the aspect ratio (though it makes it go away for most). it also does not convert to ntsc though people have reported doing that with nero too

there are quite a few people on this lisy, incl myself, who can upload to dime. however i dont have anything yet i feel is worthwhile doing. i am working on it, subject to the constraints above

if anyone would like to know how to re-author with dvd shrink, here is what i did

1. burn the dime dvd as-is
2. run dvd shrink (download and install if you dont already have it)
3. start it up and click "open disc" and wait until it loads it
4. select "no compression" from the compression drop down
5. click "re-author", the right hand pabe will change
6. from the right hand pane select title 2 under main movie and drag it to the left pane
7. click backup and choose a destintation folder
8. wait a few minutes and you will have a properly authored dvd. it will still be PAL, it wont have chapters and it may (though not likely) still display as 4:3

How could people get so unkind?

Hi Gary,

It would be truly appreciated if you would upload your "rebuilt" version to DIME once you are able! I'm frankly amazed that a second source hasn't been posted yet, and if it hasn't happened by now it seems likely that it never will.

So thanks much for your efforts & best regards,
Joe

It is NOT supposed to be used to determine playback ratio for DVD's, however, some players use it that way anyway. So some players attempt to play this DVD back as 4:3, and some players will respect the IFO and treat is as 16:9.
