I second that, or better still upload on rolfs site at oils.high5.net
so we don't need a dime account!

Hi Gary,

It would be truly appreciated if you would upload your "rebuilt" version to
DIME once you are able! I'm frankly amazed that a second source hasn't been
posted yet, and if it hasn't happened by now it seems likely that it never
will.

So thanks much for your efforts & best regards,
Joe

I downloaded the Dime version and used Nero Recode to rebuild the DVD (no
menu).

The VOB files are back to the std 1GB and the aspect ratio plays at 16:9
on both my PC and plasma. Nicely in sync and Dolby too. Only 1 chapter
however.

I'd be happy to upload this version to Dime as an upgrade to the other,
once I graduate from power user to uploader.

Cheers,
Gary.

  Hi,

As I stated in my previous messages, this problem is independent of the
aspect ratio specified in the IFO.

The problem is that there is an optional header in the MPEG2 video
format which specifies aspect ratio. It is NOT supposed to be used to
determine playback ratio for DVD's, however, some players use it that way
anyway. So some players attempt to play this DVD back as 4:3, and some
players will respect the IFO and treat is as 16:9.

Thus, any and all attempts to re-author at the DVD level will fail -
rather, it is necessary to patch the MPEG2 video data itself.

actually dvd shrink makes it playable with vlc which is already an
improvement. ifoedit tells me it is 16x9 and it looks like it too but
gspot tells me it is 4:3 so i need to compare to the original

Sorry, didn't really work either (aspect ratio still 4:3). Did the
following (on Linux): demux vobs with ProjectX, remux with mplex,
author
with DVDStyler and set the aspect ratio to 16:9 there.
