Sorry, didn't really work either (aspect ratio still 4:3). Did the following (on Linux): demux vobs with ProjectX, remux with mplex, author with DVDStyler and set the aspect ratio to 16:9 there.

I have simply re-authored the DVD through DVDShrink: thrown out the menu
(main movie only) and no compression necessary. It resizes the vobs to
1GB. Seems to be working fine.
