Midnight Oil To Play Canberra Warm-Up Shows

Midnight Oil will reunite with Peter Garrett for the Sound Relief concert but before then they will do a couple of warm-up shows in Canberra.
The last time Midnight Oil played together was in 2005 for the Wave Aid Tsunami Relief Concert.
This reunion has come together quickly for the band but it is a one-off. Bones Hillman now lives in Nashville and Peter is a politician, so there is no chance of this developing into a full-blown reunion tour.
Jim Moginie, Martin Rotsey and Rob Hirst have been recording with new Australian resident Brian Ritchie from Violent Femmes for an upcoming album and will return to that project after this benefit.
The Sound Relief show will only be a 20-30 minute set, so for Oils fans, this will be the only chance to see the band do a complete show with all of their power and their passion.
The shows will be on March 12 and 13 at the Royal Theatre, Canberra.
Tickets are $80, available from 9am Monday March 2nd through Ticketek.com.au or by phoning 132849

Manly received no publicity apart from the Oils website & the local Manly paper. The Canberra gigs on the other hand are being mentioned EVERYWHERE, so buy as quickly as possible on Monday morning. Rob did an interview on 3LO this afternoon (ABC radio in Melbourne between 2-230pm in case it's on the web) with Richard Stubbs, in which the Canberra shows were mentioned.

I am planning on getting to a Ticketek office early Monday morning & sitting out the front with a coffee & a newspaper. My local is  a paper shop so they'll already be open, whereas dedicated Ticketek agencies can run a bit late. BTW, Lily Allen's Aus shows go on sale at the same time, so Ticketek may get busy depending on how enthusiastic her fans are...
Best of luck to everyone. Looking forward to reading many joyous messages mid-morning on Monday.
Cheers, Jo.
