ah no. don't be too sad about that.
[start broken record of "the good old days" here]
when oils packed up circa 2003 I was asked by Krusty Fries rather
emphatically "are you going to Twin Towns!?!?!" (the "bow in a line"
final show before PG quit). I always looked back on that as "the tip
off" and that I missed the significance. I was crushed. When WaveAid
came up it was plane flight time, because I needed one last sweaty front
row mad-time to feel like I'd had my time to suck in every last drop of
"good-bye".
Manly was that - the practice
*was* the real deal. The whole MO
experience - eye-ball to eye-ball. WaveAid, well, it was a stadium gig
with a half hour set, seen from half a football field away from among so
many strangers (and just a few knowns lurking). Manly was the classic 2
hour sweat-drenched vocal-chord-tearing brain-damage I've loved for 20
years, among the same mad grinning faces I'd seen 1000km away 10 years ago.
This time, I'm staying home (have to), and urging anyone and everyone
who ever missed out to GO! And don't miss seeing a "warm-up" gig!
I'll be manning the IT section, making sure PW is up and running. That's
my contrib this time. (although ... there is actually a small gap in
the diary, and a few pennies in the pocket ... no! )
Cheers

Out of interest.....whose going to what. I would love to be at all 3,
alas business commitments, so I'll fly down to Canberra for the night
of the 12th and limp back to SA, knowing full well I'll be missing out
on 2 more Oils gigs....guess I have to settle for just the one an not
be greedy.
