I know one act I want to see but may not be able to make it to any of his
concerts is Johnny Clegg. For those of you unfamiliar with him, JC performed
for many years as the white half of the South African band Juluka under
Apartheid. Most of their songs were banned as were their concerts. During the
80's, the other person left to start a farm, so he regrouped as Johnny Clegg &
Savuka and had hits like "Cruel, Crazy, Beautiful World" (written for his
3-year-old song), "Dela" (put on "George of the Jungle" soundtrack at a later
date), and "Take My Heart Away." He puts on one helluva show. The music is
best described as Celtic-Zulu, and the dancing is amazing. Several times he
when he was the opening act, he outshone the stars. Your son will love him.
Although no shows have been anounced in the northwest as of yet, he is supposed
to be in Portland as that is where his fanclub is based.

If you want to get away from the kid, try and see Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers
when they are in town. Alternative/Sonoran/country with lots of tequila mixed
in. That is a show to people watch too. The fans are rabid so make sure you
are up to date on your shots. :-)
