Some bong. The cops are even stupider there than here.

  Randy,

I am also very fascinated by the sound of Didgeridoo. It just does
something to my mind. Well, we have Black Minerals store at Gurnee Mills.
It's kind of like a gift shop, and they sell many exotic items there.
And...I found simple didges there (roughly 11-35 $ priced). And there are
many web pages which kind of explain how to make a sound. So I tried,
and....to make a basic sound, wasn't really hard once you get it....it's
like riding a bike: there. However, circular breathing takes practice. Now
I can make variations of sounds, and even keep up simple beat. However
(yeah I know it's very silly for a woman to play that instrument), I would
love to learn more.

I even took it to try playing outside at our park, but somehow stupid cops
thought it was a bong (made me wonder if those goons ever saw a bong before
hmmm) And asked me to leave. So I guess my outdoor playing will be kept to
the perimeters of my backyard.

It's just like blowing raspberries, and eventually the sound will come
out...and you will hear it allright. When it finally does work, it's really
addicting, and then have to practice circular breathing. It's like blowing
with your cheecks while inhaling more air at the same time. Takes practice
to pick a beat going.

Lots of luck, and let me know how it went !

My 11 year old managed to make a sound, and she is much better than me.

  Keep Rocking....

    Question for Musicians out there:

I don't have any musical ability (other than to hit
"Play"). My children, on the other hand do. They all
play piano as well as several other instruments
(thanks to their mother). They have been intrigued
with the sound of the Digeridoo. So I have played
around with getting them one. I have a few questions.

Is it very hard to learn how to play?

Once you learn the basics is very hard to get "good"?

Since they are not man made, are there variations
between instruments? As a follow up, is it worth it
to get a more expensive one?

Does size matter? (Musically speaking, people. Get
your minds out of the gutter!)

MOC: What actually happened at Maralinga? And is Tin
Legs realted to Maralinga at all? I only ask because
the songs flow so well together.
