Sounds like the perfect item for a Yankee Swap!  This is a holiday event in 
New England offices where everyone draws a number and selects gifts from a 
pile, usually of the under $10 gag variety.  Then those with higher numbers 
can force trades for lower-number items.

They can get rowdy.
