The setlists are correct...those MD recorders take about 10 seconds to
"edit and save" (it's writing the TOC-Table of contents) after hitting the
stop button before you can get the disk out and the next one in and I try
to choose a more common song (usually Forgotten Years, Blue Sky Mine, or
King Of The Mountain) that occurs at ~ +70 to +80 minutes to do this to.

Until recently I thought that might not be avoidable (losing the start of
the disk 2 - track 1)...I now have a way around it. You record a "blank"
full length track to the MDs you intend to record on...a full TOC (table
of contents) now exists on the "blank"...so, after recording to the
disk...you can now get the disk out immediately by briefly opening the
battery cover then ejecting the disk. Since a full TOC is already on the
disk the machine does not have to write one. Learned this little trick
from a Sony technician in San Diego. "Pre-blanking" disks is also a way
of avoiding the dreaded failure of the machine to successfully write the
TOC...which means total loss of the recording and the disk will be blank
(no TOC)! I learned about this recently by losing the Chicago 7-4-2002
recording...the damn thing simply would not come out of that "edit" mode
when I hit the stop button. After using the above method to shut down and
eject I found fresh "blank" still in the machine...
I saved my Orem, UT 7-17 disk 1 by using a "TOC blank"...the machine
"locked-up" again there.

Other ways are to use 2 MD recorders and swap the mic line. Would get
another DAT but, they just don't seem to be durable enough for a
full-scale tour...and my MD has survived very severe abuse...

Will not be set up to burn CDs until 10-1...will be sending TAO disks of
Portland 5-9, Edmonton 5-15, and Kansas City 7-9 to Andy for the DAO burns
this week...

Lately Blue Sky Mine is played acousticly (well mostly) and sometimes it
is part of that "Acoustic Set" at +30 to +50 minutes or so....

Andy need your mailing address...will check for those disks...
