Today, I remember.

I remember my 3000 countrymen, and the hundreds of visitors to my country who were lost a year ago.

I know I'm going to hear from some of you, who seem to think that I have no right to be sad about this tragedy because it happened to Americans, and you're tired of hearing Americans go on about themselves. But I don't care. I woke up a year ago to find that my country was under attack, and was in fear of the next attack, for we didn't know when or where it would be. I almost vomited when the towers collapsed, crushing, obliterating people whose only crime was going to work that day.

Tomorrow I'll worry about Bush and Iraq and what the right course of action is. Tomorrow, I'll think the millions starving in Zimbabwe and Angola, victims of tin pot dictators and power-hungry warlords. Tomorrow, I'll send off another donation to Amnesty International, or Doctors Without Borders, or the Nature Conservancy, to help them save the world.

Today, I remember.
