Thank you so very much Duane and Kate for such beautiful reviews and feelings about Capricornia.
My very first impression when I heard the whole album was totally overwhelming. I felt like I was visiting the land down under myself. I've never been there yet unfortunately, but always wanted to, and saw many photos and films, and loved what I saw. The unusual and beautiful scenery, and their wildlife simply fascinate me. When I put the Capricornia on, I just could see and smell and feel the magic of that land. The rhythm of the Luritja Way made me feel as if I was just driving down the red-dusty trail, and the feeling of the Under the Overpass just brought the very honest human feeling to the picture.
On Sunday we are going on a road trip out West, to Glacier National Park, Montana. We will be visiting many places on the way there, and it's a nature and American history trip, which we are sharing with our 11 year old daughter Jennifer (who still can't stop talking about Milwaukee Oils show). I've been to that beautiful part of the country so many times, but she has not experienced the magnificence and solitude of the Rockies yet. I feel really lucky that the places like that still exist, and yes, you can still see many animals there.
That's partly why Peter's urgency about nuclear danger really got me alerted. Transporting that stuff over our waters of Lake Michigan? That's a crime, in my opinion. It always makes me think of Exxon Valdez! They still didn't clean it up, nor paid for it! And that was "only oil". It's so scary to even imagine what if? So many cities rely on that lake for water, and everything else we enjoy. I love our Lake Michigan, and been around it many times. I don't want to lose it. I don't want to see Glacier Nat'l Park, or Grand Canyon turn into lifeless deserts! What hurts is, why would the place I work at write me up for something that I did on the weekend, which just doesn't agree what the "president of company" believes in?
More and more of that I see, the more Oils music means to me! I am going to get more active mates! I've been away too long...
