Hi there,

Sorry I never got back to you all regarding the Q&A with Malcolm Burn.
I had originally emailed him with a couple of questions. I then sent
all the questions that came through Powderworks, but he only answered
the questions I originally sent him. Still they are quite interesting
though shed little new light on what we already know on the album. See
below.

Cheers

Stephen

Q-I'm interested about how Emmylou Harris became involved?

A-Emmy was in town when we were recording and I'm a friend so it just
sort of happened naturally that way.

Q-How did you end up as the only external person to co-write any Oils songs?

A-again, it was kind of natural. I was looking for something and came
up with a part that ended up being a song, so they were gracious about
including me as a co-writer. Not many bands do that I might add.

Q-Why you ended up playing so many instruments on the album?

A-I'm sort of annoying that way. I'll end up picking something up and
before you know it it's already recorded. Again, as I say there are
not too many bands gracious enough to deal with that.

Q-Was Rob so against this more acoustical musical direction?

A-At the time Rob was really going full out into rock mode with his
own project. He seemed to be enjoying a "second youth" process as I
recall.

Q-Where there lots of discarded songs from the sessions? If so, what
happened to them?

A-there were some and I know a few ended up on Jims last solo record.
Good songs never die , they just go solo!

Hope that is helpful
